Updated: Sep 27, 2020

[Note: Skincare is subjective. I would be reviewing different products hereafter, so keep an eye on the "ProductReviews" section of the blog. You can look out for skincare products reviews in near future.]

Ahh, Who doesn't know about this product in India. This product targets the most common & annoying skin issue ,i.e., Pimples. With their reasonable claims of preventing acne and teenagers as their main target audience, Himalaya Neem face wash is one of the top drugstore face wash in India.

The brand describes the product as:

"It features a soap-free, herbal formula that cleanses excess oil and impurities that clog pores to leave your skin clean, fresh and soft.
With the combined action of neem and turmeric, this purifying face wash prevents future acne and helps make breakouts one less stress in your life. The Himalaya Herbals face wash is formulated with soothing neem oil and turmeric.
Neem oil targets dry skin and relives itchiness. It reduces irritation as well. Well known for its antimicrobial properties, neem oil treats redness and wounds, and prevents any infection. It gets rid of acne-causing bacteria from the root and improves the overall health and immunity of your skin to keep future acne or ulcers at bay.
Praised for its antiseptic properties, turmeric is an important ingredient of the Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Wash. Turmeric fades blemishes without over drying your skin. It helps even the skin tone and reveals natural radiance of the skin. With intense anti-inflammatory property, turmeric extract in this facial cleanser soothes your skin and makes it smooth, supple and elastic."

TBH, these are significant amount of claims &

I am going to share what turned out to be true for my oily skin-type.

PROS:

  • It is very affordable.

  • It is hypoallergic & herbal & fit for all skin types.

  • It does get rid of excess oil & keeps it at bay for an hour or two.

  • It doesn't sacrifice the skin's softness or dry it out. I love the fact that it is soap-free (free from SLS/SLES, Parabens & Phthalates). The skin doesn't feel stretchy after washing.

  • It definitely prevents major breakouts. Though, few occasional pimples are completely normal.

  • It definitely maintains good overall health of the skin.

CONS:

  • It doesn't fade acne scars or blemishes assertively nor facilitates it. The skin heals as it normally would even without using this product.

  • It doesn't even out skin tone or hyperpigmentation (to which Indian skin is prone).

  • I didn't notice it to stop OR fix the clogged pores, though the product in itself isn't the reason of clogging pores, meaning that it non-comedogenic.

  • It doesn't provide any additional elasticity to the skin.

Having dissected its claims, it all boils down to if I recommend it or not?

I absolutely recommend this product. It is one of the most affordable & effective face washes in the Indian market. It is a value for money and pretty safe to use on teen skin. With this price point, you can't really go wrong. Especially if you have acne prone and oily skin type like mine, do give it a try.

Hope you found this review helpful. :)
